Cost Accountant


Our Client is looking to fill a key role in the cost accounting department and will have significant influence in building relationships with operations. Responsibilities include accounting and analysis for all aspects of Cost of Goods Sold, Inventory and Fixed Assets. Position requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to be a self-starter, desire to continually learn and expand within the company and motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
o Understand the standard cost build process and play a major role in the development of annual standard costs. Work with operations to ensure expenses are allocated appropriately and that bills of material are set up correctly. Reconcile components of and provide explanations for annual change in standard costs.
o Work closely with operations to understand manufacturing related variances to both standard and to budget/forecast. This includes material usage and purchase price variances, as well as overhead variances.
o Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, including participation in the calculations of capitalized material and overhead variances.
o Work closely with operations to streamline the cycle counting process and drive both the identification and resolution of root causes related to cycle count variances.
o Coordinate and assist with the annual physical inventory process for all locations.
o Participate in the identification of excess and obsolete inventory and assist in identifying potential means to drive reductions of excess and obsolete inventory. Develop tracking and reporting metrics to ensure action items are followed up on.
o Play a major role in identifying opportunities for improving, streamlining and automating functions within the cost accounting department and drive to completion.
o Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger, ensuring proper calculation of depreciation and providing accurate roll forwards of fixed assets on a monthly basis. Also manage the tracking of CIP projects and coordinate annual fixed assets physical counts.
o Performs other assignments as directed.
Skills & Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school): Required
Experience: 0-3 years of experience.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word. Cost and fixed asset systems experience a plus.
Other Requirements: Familiar with SAP software and Fixed Asset software. Experience with the workings of Bill of Materials and the concepts of an MRP system.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
